Aluminium Doors and Windows for Jammu and Kashmir

Jammu and Kashmir asks more of a window than almost anywhere else in the country. In the valley, winter means snow on the roof, frost on the glass and a heater running for months. In Jammu, the same year brings 45°C afternoons. A frame that works in one season and fails in the other is no use. Fabricasto’s aluminium systems can be specified for both ends of this range, with thermal-break profiles, insulated glazing and tight seals.

Aluminium Doors and Windows for Jammu and Kashmir
DESIGNED FOR LOCAL CONDITIONS

The cold-weather problem

Summer heat

Summer heat

Most heat in a Kashmir home escapes through the windows. Old single-glazed timber or steel frames shrink, warp and leave gaps, so the room loses warmth and the glass sweats inside. Condensation then runs onto the sill and slowly damages the wall around it.

What We Recommend

What We Recommend

For the valley we usually recommend a thermal-break aluminium frame with double glazing, and we can discuss triple glazing for the coldest locations such as Gulmarg and Sonamarg. The sealing system matters as much as the glass. A well-fitted frame will cut drafts and reduce how much fuel you burn through the winter.

OUR SOLUTIONS

Skylights and glass roofs in snow country

Snow Load

Snow Load

Snow load is a design question, not a decoration one. If you want a skylight or glass roof in Srinagar, Pahalgam or Gulmarg, the structure, glass thickness and slope have to be worked out for the weight of snow that will sit on it. We discuss this at the drawing stage and size the frame accordingly.

Hotels, houseboats and heritage homes

Hotels, houseboats and heritage homes

The valley’s hospitality sector, from Dal Lake hotels to Pahalgam resorts, wants large views that stay warm. Frames with narrow sightlines let more of the mountains into the room without a draught. In older Srinagar houses with khatamband ceilings and pinjrakari lattice work, aluminium can be placed behind the carved screen as an inner layer, keeping the traditional look while stopping the cold.

Delivery in winter

Highway closures from snow or landslides can affect transport into the valley between December and March. We plan dispatch dates with you based on the season instead of promising a fixed day. If your project is time-sensitive, order early in the autumn.

Common questions

Will aluminium windows feel cold in winter?

Only if the frame has no thermal break. A thermally broken profile with double glazing keeps the inside surface much warmer and reduces condensation.

Is aluminium suitable for Jammu’s summer heat?

Yes. Glass choice is the key. We can suggest glazing that cuts heat on south and west walls.

Can you ship to Srinagar?

We plan this project by project. Contact us with your location and approximate dates.

Do you offer installation in the valley?

Please ask us for current availability for your town, since this depends on site and season.
